Wategos Beach Byron Bay, New South Wales.

Before the million dollar mansions and $30 avocado on toast, Wategos Beach was relatively empty land. 

In the 60s the local Council took a long 12 years to auction off these newly gazetted Byron blocks of land. Nothing like today!

As a lover of good fishing, my husband's grandfather built a shack on one of these beach lots. 

Playing on the beach and sitting between the two large split rocks in the foreground as the tide came in is just one of the many memories of a time when life was a bit less hectic.
